Excellence Awards Readiness and Submission

Course Overview

This course is designed for organizations and teams that want to understand, apply, and excel under recognized excellence models and awards.

This modular course equips participants with the knowledge, skills and practical tools to prepare for government, excellence, and quality awards based on frameworks such as the Government Excellence Model (GEM2), the King Abdulaziz Quality Award (KAQA), the Dubai Government Excellence Model (DGEM), the Qatar Government Excellence Model (QGEM), the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), and other national or international models.

Through interactive workshops, case studies, and model-specific guidance, participants learn how to interpret criteria, document evidence, identify gaps, and implement improvements. The course builds the capacity of staff and teams to support award submissions and sustain improved performance.

Module 1: Introduction to Excellence Awards and Frameworks

  • Overview of excellence model applicable to the organization (whether GEM2, EFQM, QGEM, KAQA, DGEM, or other models) depending on type and location of the organization
  • Pillars, criteria, fundamentals, and award cycles
  • Understanding the benefits of excellence awards and assessments

Module 2: Interpreting Model Criteria

  • How to read and apply the pillars and sub-criteria of the applicable excellence model
  • Understanding scoring guides and evidence requirements

Module 3: Conducting Self-Assessments and Gap Analyses

  • Using maturity models, self-assessment tools, and scoring matrices
  • Identifying strengths and improvement opportunities

Module 4: Preparing Evidence and Documentation

  • Collecting and organizing data, policies, results, and examples
  • Developing a documentation and submission plan

Module 5: Implementing Quick-Win Improvements

  • Prioritizing and implementing actions to address gaps before award submission
  • Engaging stakeholders and building cross-functional collaboration

Module 6: Preparing for External Evaluation and Site Visits

  • What assessors look for
  • How to brief staff and showcase practices during evaluations
